A glimpse into the history of the A.H. Fox Shotgun reveals that they were manufactured in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania from 1905 until the early 1930s. Guns manufactured in New Britain will have the same hand finish as the early guns produced in Philadelphia. Our manufacturing processes are unequaled in the gun making industry. We have set the highest standards for precision machining and utilize the finest machines available. We have recruited the best tool makers to operate this equipment. The finishing on A.H. Shotguns is still performed by hand. Polishing, rust bluing, engraving, stock checkering, and fitting are all done manually by master craftsman skilled in the fine art of gunmaking.
HANDMADE & BUILT IN-HOUSE
The requirement for substantial amounts of precise machining and hand finishing dictate that the newly manufactured A.H. Fox Shotguns will never be available in great quantities. Annual shipments are estimated to be less than one hundred guns. These guns have all the prerequisites necessary to attain their place as American classics and to provide their owners immense satisfaction as excellent investments. We have been manufacturing the Connecticut Shotgun Manufacturing Company A.H. Fox Shotguns for over 10 years and after hundreds of guns, we are still excited about every single gun that we produce. Although we operate the most advanced tool machine equipment available, all of the fitting, shaping, and chiseling of the steel to sculpture frame is still done by the hands of our extremely skilled gunmakers. Every gun is made individually and we pride ourselves on being able to custom tailor every gun. Every grade comes with the option to select the type of bird or animal on the engraving, the checkering on the wood, or any other special requirement. We enjoy building these guns to the exact specifications for every situation. Today's A.H. Fox Guns are the same excellent value as those purchased by your grandfather.
The CE Grade A.H. Fox is in every respect a high grade gun and represents outstanding value. It is engraved with fine scroll and game scenes. The gun stocks are made with our quality "one star" Turkish Circassian walnut. Fine hand checkering is cut on the grip, panels, and forend.
The XE Grade A.H. Fox meets the demand for a hand-finished gun having all the refinements of the gun-maker's art. It has chiseled scroll work and engraved game scenes. These guns are stocked with our "two star" quality Turkish Circassian walnut. Distinctive fine checkering adorns the grip, panels, and forend.
The DE Grade is a striking example of the mechanical simplicity, strength, fine workmanship and excellent shooting qualities of the A.H. Fox Gun. It is a classic beauty in every detail. Engraving is intricate and extensive. It is stocked with our "three star" highly figured Turkish Circassian walnut. The checkering is the finest diamond pattern on the grip, panels, and forend.
The FE Grade is built for the sportsman who is satisfied by only the best that there is. The FE Grade is unsurpassed in appearance and shooting qualities by any gun. It is in every sense of the word a "work of art." The engraving is a revelation in the ornamentation of guns, consisting of gold inlays surrounded by one of several types of beautiful scroll. If desired, the individual signature of the purchaser is inlaid in gold on the trigger guard or the monogram engraved upon a gold shield in the stock. The stocks are selected from our "four star" Turkish Circassian walnut, which is richly figured. The checkering is exquisite, being the finest diamond pattern, on the grip, panels and forend.
The Exhibition Grade is made for the sportsman/collector for whom price is no object. This gun is for the discriminating individual who wishes to invest in one of the truly greatest guns ever produced. The A.H. Fox Exhibition Grade Gun is a museum quality piece. The ornamentation design, consisting of gold inlays and engraving, is specified and approved by the customer before the gun is built. Gus stock wood is chosen by the customer from our supply of Exhibition Quality Turkish Circassian walnut. This rare wood is the most sought after and expensive available anywhere in the world.
