Historic 1934 Winchester Model 21 Double-Barrel Shotgun — Major J.W. Hessian Personal Gun (Cody Letter Included)
An outstanding, museum-quality Winchester Model 21 built in 1934 specifically for Major John W. Hessian, Winchester’s famed exhibition marksman. Built with Major Hessian’s personal design input, this gun served as a key pattern model for Winchester and is documented in numerous books and historical articles.
Accompanied by a Cody Factory Letter, this custom early-build example features a rounded frame, Grade 6 "Chrysler-style" engraving reportedly by master engraver Rudolph Kornbrath, and is marked "Custom Built." It boasts factory-documented French Walnut with a straight grip, three-point checkering, a kidney-style beavertail forend, a checkered butt, and an engraved gold oval inlay with Major Hessian's initials. Additional highlights include a matted rib with a Bradley front sight and mid-sight, as well as a fully jeweled water table, barrel flats, and forend iron.
Stock dimensions measure 14 ¼" LOP × 1 ⅜" DAC × 1 ⅞" DAH. The gun remains in immaculate, like-new condition in every respect—a monumental piece of Winchester history.
